Salas choke hands Petterson LOTTE title

Norwegian Suzann Pettersen has clinched the LOTTE Championship after winning her sudden-death playoff against Lizette Salas on Saturday. The playoff lasted one hole after Pettersen parred the 18th while Salas could only manage a double-bogey in a disappointing finish to her brilliant final day at the tournament. Salas stormed up the leaderboard on Saturday after carding a sizzling 10-under-par fourth round, which included nine birdies and an eagle, to move to 19 under. Pettersen was 20 under heading into her final hole and only had to par the 18th, something she had done in her three previous rounds, to see off Salas&apos challenge and avoid a playoff. However, she bogeyed it to give Salas a chance of a remarkable tournament victory which the American ultimately could not capitalise on. Pettersen, who started Saturday in Hawaii as outright leader, produced a final-round five-under 67 which featured eight birdies and three bogeys to end up 19 under as well. Thailand&aposs Ariya Jutanugarn (15 under) finished third while South Korean duo IK Kim and Inbee Park ended the tournament in equal fourth on 13 under. Two strokes further back on 11 under in equal sixth was a trio which comprised of another South Korean in Na Yeon Choi, Salas&apos compatriot Jessica Korda and Japan&aposs Ai Miyazato. Karrie Webb (eight under) finished in a tie for 17th and was the pick of the Australians while her countrywomen Julia Boland, Katherine Hull-Kirk and Sarah Jane Smith all ended up in equal 57th spot on one over.
