Saly shines at Kyabram

Sari Saly masters the Victorian Women’s Par 3 Championships with rounds of 65 and 60 to take the title by just one from defending champion Catherine Odgers (Wodonga). Saly, a member at Kilmore, played some exceptional golf today shooting a 6 over par 60, which was the best round for the tournament.  Sari had a fine one over on the back nine, which included a birdie on the tough 18th.

Sari was confident with her short game for the two days, but particularly mentioned that her iron play was solid.

“My iron shots were good. I attacked the pins.” Saly said.

With the course playing long, Sari mentioned that she needed driver on a few holes, and ultimately was a huge strength towards her win here in Kyabram.

In the B grade gross, Sandie Scapin (Kyabram Parkland) fired an outstanding second round 67 to claim the title by an impressive 9 shots.

Kyabram Parkland has welcomed the women for this year’s event, and the involvement by volunteers is outstanding. The club should be congratulated on their hard work to date.

With the Women’s Championship now concluded, attention swings to the Men’s Par Championship which begins on Saturday, with players playing 54 holes across the weekend. Defending champion Andrew Kane will tee up again and will be paired with 2012 champion Nathan Schneider for the first two rounds. The player to watch is Victorian Amateur Champion Zach Murray, who is here to test his game at this unique golf course.
