Sanchez and Matsumoto win Junior Averages

 The Junior Averages encompasses the Geoff Ogilvy Trophy (boys) & Future Champions Trophy (girls); both championships are played for throughout the year with the player with the lowest scoring average being awarded the premier prize.
In 2014, the Geoff Ogilvy Trophy was hotly contested amongst a talented field with Matias Sanchez (Sandhurst GC) narrowly defeating Cameron John (Waverley) last year’s U14 Geoff Ogilvy Trophy Winner and Konrad Ciupek (Victoria) last year’s U16 Geoff Ogilvy Trophy Winner. Sanchez finished with a stroke average of 68.7. Sanchez had some fantastic scores throughout the year including a 68 in the third round of the Australian Boys Championship where he finished in a tie for 5th. As well as a 67’s to win both the Stuart Appleby Signature Tournament and the Steve Allen Junior Open. Sanchez had another 67 in the first round of the Murray River Junior Masters where he finished runner up to cap of his year.
Sanchez also won the U16 Geoff Ogilvy Trophy with an adjusted average of 67.9. Antony Majstrovic (Victoria GC) steady form won him the under 14 Geoff Ogilvy Trophy with an adjusted average of 73.8
Kono Matsumoto (Victoria GC) triumphed in the Future Champions Trophy with an adjusted average of 70.6. Matsumoto’s exceptional golf in 2014 saw her win the Australian Girls Championship at Yering Meadows as well as the Murray River Junior Masters.  Matsumoto almost won the Victorian Junior Masters losing in a three way play off for the championship. Alex Hilliard was runner up with an adjusted average of 72.8 and Kallista Do came in third with an adjusted average of 69.7.
Like the Geoff Ogilvy Trophy, there are under 16 and under 14 sections in the Future Champions Kono Matusmoto the U16 Future Champions Trophy with an adjusted average of 69.7. Linley Ooi from Kew Golf Club won the U14 Future Champions Trophy with an adjusted average of 75.2.
