Golf Australia has announced the Golf Australia Senior Team for the 2013 Sanctuary Cove Trophy an annual match against seniors from New Zealand. The match will be played at Sanctuary Cove Golf Club from 9-11 September. The team members are Stefan Albinski (NSW), Ross Bockman (NSW), Alan Bullas (Vic), Vince Clark (NSW), Denis Dale (NSW), Stephen Gibson (NSW), Richard Greville (NSW), Peter King (Qld), David Limbach (NSW), Ian McPherson (WA), Robert Payne (NSW) and Roy Vandersluis (NSW). The team is an experienced team, and Australia will be looking to win back the title after New Zealand defeated them last year. Albinski is Australia s number one ranked senior amateur golfer, with three Australian Senior Amateur titles to his name. Denis Dale sits in second place on the Australian Men’sSenior Ranking system with a number of recent top 10 finishes while the ever consistent Peter King also brings a wealth of experience. The team also features some fresh faces including former NSW State Player Robert Payne and Stephen Gibson who are sure to be valuable assets to the team. The event has been played six times previously, with both Australia and New Zealand with three wins each. The Sanctuary Cove Trophy continues to grow in popularity and although a very competitive event, the camaraderie that exists between the players from both countries makes it enjoyable on and off the course.
