Schwartzel triumphs at China Masters

South African Charl Schwartzel has won the 2013 China Masters by one stroke after finishing the tournament on nine under overall. Schwartzel carded a final-round four-under-par 68, which included five birdies and a bogey, to see off his nearest rivals Wen-chong Liang of China and Northern Irishman Darren Clarke. Liang and Clarke both finished in equal second position on eight under at Nanshan after each registering even-par 72s on Sunday. Two shots further adrift of those two was a group of five in a share of fourth spot, including Australian duo Rhein Gibson and Scott Strange, who finished up on six under. Joining Gibson and Strange three shots off the pace were Indonesian Rory Hie, New Zealander Mark Brown and South Korean Sung-yeol Kwon. The next best Australians were Ryan Haller and Scott Laycock who ended up on minus four in a tie for ninth.
