Scott and Beckmann clinch Men’s Foursomes

Golf Australia National Squad members Scott Arnold (NSW) and Daniel Beckmann (Vic) shot an impressive 67 in the trying conditions to clinch a 1 shot victory at the Australian Men&aposs Amateur Foursomes Championship The 2009 Australian Men&aposs Amateur Foursomes Championship commenced this morning at Riversdale Golf Club. Players were greeted with blue skies, before challenging Melbourne conditions met them on the back nine. Jin Jeong & Tim Hardham (Vic) played consistent golf in the challenging conditions to fire a 1 under par round of 71. Tied on 1 under par with them is the New South Wales pairing of Michael Smyth & Rhys McGovern. National Squad members Scott Arnold (NSW) & Daniel Beckmann (Vic) finished on even par and looked ready to challenge in the afternoon. McGovern & Smyth continued their good form and posted a great score of 69 in the afternoon to look very comfortable clubhouse leaders, sitting on a total of 140. Arnold & Beckman were playing in the last group and were looking to be the main threat for the clubhouse leaders. With a blistering back 9 of 32, that included an eagle and 3 birdies, Arnold & Beckmann closed out an impressive round for a best of the day 67, to give them an overall total of 139, giving them a 1 shot victory over McGovern & Smyth.
