Adam Scott’s spirited bid for a place in the US Open is back on track.
Scott, who needs to vault from No. 65 on the world rankings to be inside the top 60 by the June 11 cut-off point, climbed to a tie for 11th in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village in Ohio today with a third-round 70.
He is the leading Australian, at eight-under, six from the lead held by Bryson DeChambeau of the United States, who leapt to the front with a third-round 66.
The Queenslander has not missed a single major championship since 2001, and is playing his sixth consecutive week of tournament golf in an effort to continue the streak. "I'm one good round from everything going to plan,'' he told AAP after the third round.
Meanwhile Jason Day fell out of contention after a difficult, third-round 74 that left him tied-28th.
Former world No. 1 Tiger Woods has continued his good form and is in contention at nine-under par, tied-seventh, after a 68 today.
