Former Australian Open champion Adam Scott is the best placed Australian to make an assault on The Open Championship at a windy and cold Royal St George&aposs Golf Club in Sandwich, Kent. Scott finished the first two rounds tied for 14th place at 1-under par (69-70) and is only three strokes from leaders Darren Clarke and Lucas Glover at 4-under par. The Queenslander&aposs best performance at The Open Championship came in 2006 at Royal Liverpool when he tied for 8th place. World Number 8 Jason Day, Robert Allenby and Richard Green were all tied for 31st place when play began on Saturday. Day (71-70) is looking to continue his excellent run of form which saw him finish second at both the Masters Tournament and the US Open. Canberra&aposs Matt Millar was the last Australian to make the cut on the line at 3-over par. Golf Australia Rookie Professional Rick Kulacz and British Amateur champion Bryden Macpherson missed the cut by one at 4-over. Kulacz needed to par the 18th hole on Friday to head into the weekend but slipped to a bogey and below the line. At +3, the cut was the equal lowest in the Open Championship&aposs history since 1898 and meant that only seven strokes separated the first and last groups. The cut claimed Australians Geoff Ogilvy, Aaron Baddeley, Brad Kennedy, Kurt Barnes and Nathan Green. Other big names to miss were World Number 1 and 2 Luke Donald and Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell, Matt Kuchar, Nick Watney and Padraig Harrington.
