Scott off to a flyer

Adam Scott is in equal second position on six-under-par and one stroke off pace-setter Henrik Stenson after the first round of the HSBC Champions event in Shanghai. Scott is level with American duo Phil Mickelson and Anthony Kim as well as Spaniard Sergio Garcia after all four shot first rounds of 66 at the Sheshan International Golf Club. The chasing quartet is followed by Zimbabwean Marc Cayeux and Englishman Oliver Wilson who are both five under the card. Stenson took the early ascendancy by shooting a seven-under 65 which included six birdies and an eagle at the 2nd. Meanwhile, Scott began his day in ideal fashion, reeling off two birdies from the first two holes. But the Australian negated his good early work almost immediately by bogeying the following two holes. However, those two plus-ones would be the only blemishes of his day as he went on to record six birdies from the final 14 holes to be in a strong position with three rounds remaining. Scott&aposs compatriot Scott Strange is in a share of 14th position on three-under while Geoff Ogilvy (two-under) is the next best Australian Kiwi Mark Brown is a further shot behind Ogilvy on one-under-par.
