Scott Ready wins the SA Medal

Scott Ready – South Australian Medalist Scott Ready from Flagstaff Hill Golf Club has claimed the 2014 SA Medal after a birdie on the first playoff hole over Jack Williams, after both players finished at 7-under par (281) after 72 holes of stroke play at Flagstaff Hill. Ready began day two at 5-under par, 2 strokes ahead of Jack William s, after opening rounds of 72,67 and continued to score low in the third round firing a 3-under 69. I started off strongly trying to get off to the best start I could, I knew there were quite a few players behind me chasing, but knew if I played solid in the third round I would put myself in a good position Ready said Ready s third round included an eagle on the par 4, 11th hole his second hole for the day after teeing off the 10th. Ready posted a final round 73 with Williams shooting a 1-under 71. I was square through the front nine and playing okay, I knew that if I could post an even par round or thereabouts it would be tough to catch. On the playoff hole, I trusted everything I had been working on and knew I had prepared 100% with my coach Daniel Blackwell so just backed myself Ready is quietly confident heading into the Match Play rounds at Kooyonga. Kooyonga used to be my old home Club, so I know the course very well. I m quite comfortable out there and am just looking to continue this form through the match play rounds. Grant Riches (Kooyonga) qualified in third position at 1-over with rounds of 72-71-69-71 (283) on a count back from James Bannan (Rosanna GC) 73-70-68-72 (283). SA s leading player Anthony Murdaca (The Grange) qualified in 7th position on 292 ahead of Greg Blewett who finished on 295 and qualified 8th. Fifteen South Australian s made it through to the Match Play (top 16) with William Somerfield (Kooyonga) the 16th qualifier at 12-over on 300. The South Australian Men’sAmateur Championship Match Play rounds (Quarter Finals) commence at Kooyonga on Thursday 20 March from 7.30am.
