Adam Scott’s resurgence has continued at the Genesis Open at Riviera outside Los Angeles today.

Scott switched to a new putting style recently and was immediately in contention in the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open, where he finished second.

Today he fired a five-under par 66 at Riviera in the rain-interrupted tournament hosted by Tiger Woods, then backed it up with a strong first nine of his second round to be tied for the lead when darkness prevented any more play.

Scott’s first round was punctuated with nice putting, with his new habit of leaving the flagstick in, even for short putts.

Afterward, he said the break between rounds needed to be negotiated carefully. “The key again, just like when I changed rounds today or in between rounds, is to go out and keep that momentum going and not lose it, and then I think that will be the goal for the rest of the weekend,” he said.  “If I can finish off this nine holes really good tomorrow and turn it around for the afternoon and play some more good golf, I'll be right there for Sunday.”

Scott shares the lead with American Justin Thomas at 10-under. Another American, JB Holmes, is at nine-under after he holed out on the par three 16th hole in his first round today.
