Masters Champion Adam Scott has made a triumphant return home winning the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola. Starting the day with a two stroke lead over Rickie Fowler and David McKenzie, Scott fired a 4-under the card round to finish with a tournament total of 14-under 270. I sat here a few days ago letting you know that this is the one I wanted, said Scott. It feels amazing to be able to kind of tick the boxes down here in Australia now. It’s very memorable one for me here on the Gold Coast as well on my first event back this year. I think this is the icing on the cake for me. Inclement weather delayed play at RACV Royal Pines Resort but didn t put a dampener on Scott s game. I went back out feeling pretty good about myself really, said Scott who went on to eagle the par-5 12th, his first hole after the delay. It just faded in of my intended line. It was a pure strike, it ended up being a great result and a big part of me going on to win I think, said Scott of his approach into 12. Winning his first Australian PGA Championship will have a special place alongside Scott s career highlights. I m really proud, the PGA means a lot to me and my family and I think this is an incredible win, said Scott, whose father Phil is a PGA Professional. The PGA has been so involved in my family for a really long time, and it being the one I hadn t won down here I really wanted it bad. It’s a special win to me, I felt an incredible support from the crowd, it was nice seeing them getting so excited for me to get a win. Scott now turns his attention to the Talisker Masters, Emirates Australian Open and becoming the first player since Robert Allenby in 2005 to claim the Australian Triple Crown in the same season. That would be an incredible way to end the year, added Scott. But I think I am going to enjoy this for a couple of days before I think about playing next week and trying to win. Finishing second was crowd pleaser Rickie Fowler who helped create an exciting final day s play coming within a shot of the lead. It’s nice to get a good runner up finish here, I was looking forward to giving Adam a little bit more of a challenge. It’s a little tough to catch a guy when he’s making an eagle and a couple of birdies. said Fowler. I definitely enjoyed my time on the Gold Coast and I m looking forward to getting back down to Australia hopefully next year. We loved it, added Fowler who made the trip with his family. WA Goldfields PGA Champion and Third Year Trainee Jack Wilson finished in outright third on 8-under the card claiming the Kel Nagle Plate in the process. Winning was always the thing from start to finish that I wanted to do. I knew I was in a good position when I got off to a good start, said Wilson. I saw my name climbing up the leaderboard, you know it s good to watch, it s good to see it getting up there, it s exciting. A further shot behind Wilson was Cameron Percy and rounding out the top-5 on 6-under 278 was Michael Wright. The PGA Tour of Australasia now moves to Royal Melbourne Golf Club for the Talisker Masters to be played from the 14 – 17 November 2013.
