Scott’s cheeky parting shot returned in style

Adam Scott has never lost his sense of humour, even when the putting style he rode to the top of world golf was outlawed.

Nor, it seems, has former R&A boss Peter Dawson.

So it was no surprise to hear of the Queenslander’s cheeky gift to the man largely responsible for Scott having to abandon the long putter.

“I actually sent one to Peter Dawson for his retirement," Scott revealed at the Honda Classic in Florida.

Scott said he can't recall the note he attached to the gift, though he remembers what the former R&A chief executive wrote back to him.

“He said he greatly appreciated the gesture,” Scott said with a smile.

“He said he'd put it with all the other obsolete clubs.”
