Senior Men to tackle Barwon Heads in Match Play

Golf Australia in its continued approach to promote the game of golf has introduced the Australian Men&aposs Senior Match Play Championship to be held 24-28 September. The top 64 players on the Men&aposs Senior Order of Merit will be invited by Golf Australia to the challenging and picturesque Barwon Heads layout to compete for the title of Australian Men&aposs Senior Match Play Champion. In what is sure to be a competitive battle, the players will fight it out in match play format to determine who will be crowned Australian Men&aposs Senior Match Play Champion. Golf Australia Director of Championships Trevor Herden said. “The Senior Men have a very competitive circuit of events around the country, as was illustrated at the Australian Men&aposs Senior Amateur Championship at Commonwealth Golf Club. The Australian Men&aposs Senior Match Play will bring the top Senior Order of Merit players together to play what is a unique & challenging layout down at Barwon Heads.” With Barwon Heads celebrating its centenary in 2007, the club has already hosted the Women&aposs Interstate Team Matches, Australian Women&aposs Foursomes, the prestigious Four Nations Cup and will continue the celebrations by hosting the inaugural Australian Men&aposs Senior Match Play Championship.
