Lovely Melbourne weather has greeted competitors for the inaugural Men&aposs Senior Amateur Match Play at Barwon Heads Golf Club. The Championship is an invitational event with Golf Australia accepting the top 64 ranked entries (as at 31 July) on the Australian Senior Order of Merit to compete at Barwon Heads this week. Order of Merit leader Denis Dale of New South Wales won through to the second round with a 2&1 win over John Beaumont of South Australia. Click here for a full summary of first round results. Golf Australia would like to thank Barwon Heads Golf Club and its members for once again giving up their superbly presented course for an important championship. Celebrating their centenary this year, the club has previously hosted the Four Nations Cup and the AUstralian Women&aposs Interstate Teams Matches. The winner of this week&aposs event receives an exemption into the 2007 Handa Men&aposs Senior Open to be held at Concord Golf Club in Sydney in November.
