Senior Open heads to Manly

Entries are now open for the Australian Men’s Senior Amateur Championship to be played at Manly Golf Club in Sydney, from 29 September to 1 October 2015.

Defending champion Gordon Claney from Victoria will be back to defend his title and will be a top contender with recent top form including a second place in the South Australian Senior Amateur and third in the Royal Melbourne Senior Classic, putting him on  top of the Australian Men’s Senior Rankings.

Fellow-Victorian Barry Tippett, who sits in second place on the Australian senior rankings, should also be in the mix after a solid start to the year with second place finishes in the Lake Karrinyup Seniors Classic, WA Senior Amateur and The National Senior Masters.

Ian MacPherson from Western Australia will also be one to watch after his recent win the Australian Men’s Senior Match Play Championship along with local Stefan Albinski (NSW) who has won the Championship on three previous occasions

The event once again sees players contest 54-holes stroke play over three days.

The handicap limit for 2015 is 8.4.

The event is in its 35rd year, having been played since 1981, and with the winner claiming the Kerry Packer Trophy, it is Australia’s premier men’s senior event.
