Senior Sandbelt Week Wraps Up at Royal Melbourne

<image="1" align="right" />

The August Senior Sandbelt week concluded today with a windy day at Royal Melbourne. Fortunately the rain stayed away for the most part and players returned to the clubhouse in a dry state.

Adam Charleston (Lonsdale GC) played the tricky conditions better than his fellow competitors and returned the best score of the day with 78.  Gordon Claney (Kingston Heath GC) claimed the runner-up prize from Kim Johnson (The National GC), Stephen Valentine (Kew GC) and Mark Abeyaratne (Peninsula-Kingswood GC) on a count-back, rounding out a successful week for him.

The nett section was won on a countback by Stuart Allen of Peninsula-Kingswood Golf Club. The 11-marker posted a nett 73 to edge past Sam Gabriele (Northern GC).

All six host clubs and Golf Victoria would like to thank Victorian participants and interstate visitors for supporting the week of events on the sandbelt. We hope you have enjoyed playing at these world-class courses and the magnificent hospitality they have provided.

Next up on the senior calendar is the Bendigo Senior Amateur starting Thursday August 31.
