Warm conditions greeted players at the picturesque Heritage Golf and Country Club for the second event on the Seniors calendar, the 2018 Yarra Courses Senior Amateur. It was a record capacity field of 100 players this year with some great scoring from the leading players.
In the Men’s section, Ian McCleary (Kooringal) produced a super score of 70 to win by 4 over local product Tim Dixon. Two behind them was Guy Krall (The National) who fired a 76. The nett champion was Andew Hansen (Eastern) who finished with a 69 closely followed by two members of the Latrobe Golf Club, Frank Pinataro (70) and Keith Finkelde (71).
Helen Pascoe (Bunniyong) took out the scratch stableford event for 2018 with 28 points. A further 4 shots back was runner-up Heather Harley (Kooringal) with Tessa Fraser (Heritage) coming in third position with her score of 21 points. The stableford event saw the locals dominate with the top three positions all being claimed by Heritage members. The winner was Lee Watson (38), followed by Sue-Ann Vogt (33) and Marnie Gorman (31-c/b).
The seniors tour moves onto the Lonsdale and The Sands Golf Clubs for the Surfcoast Senior Amateur on February 8-9. A huge thanks to everyone at The Heritage Golf and Country Club for their efforts and support for welcoming all players to the course and help running such a great event. Thanks to all players for participating and we look forward to seeing you in future events.
