Seniors to do battle at Sanctuary Cove Trophy

The Golf Australia Senior Team will take on the New Zealand Senior Team for the Sanctuary Cove Trophy to be played at Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club from 7-8 July. The Golf Australia team members are Stefan Albinski (NSW), John Beaumont (SA), Chris Coats (QLD), Greg Corben (NSW), Denis Dale (NSW), Colin Hallam (QLD), Peter King (QLD), Grahame MacDonald (QLD), Paul Maslen (NSW), Rick Oliver (NSW), Ross Percy (Vic) and Roy Vandersluis (NSW). Albinski recently won the Australian Senior Amateur for the third time and is the number one senior golfer in Australia. Dale is Australia s second ranked senior golfer, while Vandersluis, Oliver and King make up the top five. Coats and Hallam are strong in match play, both having made the final of the Australian Senior Match Play Championship in October last year. Maslen is a newcomer to senior golf, and with only three senior ranking events under his belt, is already proving that he will be a force to be reckoned with. With their experience in last year s event, MacDonald, Beaumont and Percy complete a strong team. The team Manager is Barry Ridden and the Captain is Phil Billings. The Sanctuary Cove Trophy is in its fifth year and the event is played in a Ryder Cup style format. New Zealand won the 2010 event in New Zealand, so the Golf Australia Team is looking forward to the re-match on home soil.
