Channel Seven's Samantha Armytage had her first-ever golf lesson today … choosing the longest hitter in the world as an instructor.
World long drive champion Jamie Sadlowski was a willing participant after one of the stars of Seven's Sunrise program popped down to Royal Sydney for an interview with the Canadian, who is teeing it up in the Emirates Australian Open.
Armytage is a golf enthusiast but needs some work on her game. One of her first shots with a driver skewed hard right, to which Sadlowski commented: ''That was the wind did that.''
But shrugging off nerves on the driving range as the big-name professionals went through their preparations for the national championship, Armytage flushed the next shot.
"Dad sort of taught us on holidays as kids,'' said Armytage. "I get asked to play in charity days so it's not the worst thing to know. I'd actually love to spend a day with a pro because I'd actually love to be able to play.''
The interview with Sadlowski, who has recorded drives beyond 400 metres, will be aired on Sunrise this week.
"The golf's on Seven, we're excited about that,'' said Armytage. "I mean, Adam Scott's just there, Jordan Spieth's over there. Imagine teeing off in front of Spieth and Scott. I consider myself to be incredibly brave today, and possibly very stupid!''
