Sherratt canters home at Riversdale

South Australian Jordan Sherratt couldn&apost put a shot wrong in his opening round of 63 at the Riversdale Cup. He continued that superb form in the following three rounds with consecutive 68s to win the 2009 Riversdale Cup by five strokes at 21-under par. It was a stunning performance by the South Australian who fired just five bogies over 72 holes to claim his first Riversdale Cup. The wire-to-wire victory means Sherratt will be highly fancied at the upcoming Australian Amateur Championships in Queensland. Defending champion and National Squad member Scott Arnold finished second at 16-under par after closing rounds of 66 and 68. Victorian Daniel Beckmann finished in outright third at 12-under which included a course record 62 in the second round. Beckmann&aposs 62 meant Jordan Sherratt&aposs opening round course record 63 lasted just 24 hours. New Zealander Daniel Pearce, Matt Jager and Bryden Macpherson all tied for fourth place at 10-under par.
