Shiny day for leaders of the Port Phillip

Shelly Shin (NSW) & Kiran Day (WA) are leaders at the halfway mark of the Women’s & Men’s Port Phillip Open Amateurs. Hot, blustery conditions were testing for players across the board at Kingston Heath as they fought their way for a spot in tomorrow’s field.

Shin, who was a member of the victorious World Amateur Teams Championship alongside Su Oh & Minjee Lee, fired another respectable one under par 73 to be on a 36-hole total of 146. Overnight leader, Hannah Green (WA) is one shot back on 147.

Kiran Day continued his round one form with a 3 under 69 for a 36-hole total of 5 under par 139. Closely following Day is Yarrawonga’s Frazer Droop coming in with another round of 70 today to finish at 4 under, and Kevin Yuan (NSW) a further shot back on 3 under.

Following the 36-hole cut, 25 female players on 164 or better, and 56 male players on 154 or better will tee up for the 3rd & 4th rounds tomorrow at Commonwealth Golf Club. Play will commence via multi-tee starts at 7:45am and 12:45pm, with the top 32 men and 16 women advancing to the Victorian Amateur match-play rounds.
