Sim, Carballo share lead

Australia&aposs Michael Sim and Argentina&aposs Miguel Angel Carballo share the lead at the halfway stage of the Moonah Classic on Victoria&aposs Mornington Peninsula. Sim and Carballo sit on eight under after two rounds with the Scottish-born Australian carding a 67 and the Argentine finishing late in the day with a 68 join Sim at the top of the card in the co-sanctioned Nationwide and Australasian PGA Tour event. Sim didn&apost get his second round going until late on the front nine, picking up his first shot on the ninth. Four birdies in his final five holes saw him tear up the leaderboard and claim a share of lead. Carballo had an up-and-down start to his day with two birdies and two bogeys in the first four holes. An eagle on the 15th, his sixth hole, got things going and he followed up with birdies on his ninth and tenth. Journeyman Terry Pilkadaris sits in equal third, a 67 which featured six birdies and bogey propelling him level with American Josh Teater, whose 68 contained an eagle, three birdies and a bogey. A four-way tie for fifth on six-under features Australians Peter O&aposMalley and Steve Conran and American pair Hunter Haas and Daniel Summerhays, who had held the lead along with three others after the first day. Six players share ninth on five-under, including the leading New Zealander David Smail, who shot a 68. The cut will be at even par, with defending champion Ewan Porter just making it with a 69 getting him to one-under.
