Kevin Sims has made his first senior event a memorable one, taking out the Tocumwal Senior Amateur by a single shot.

Trailing by one shot overnight, a consistent second round with 15 pars saw Sims finish with 73 for the day and the overall victory.

Sims was stoked to be the winner, not even realising the event was on until the last minute.

“I was at the pro shop at Riversdale on Tuesday when the pro told me I should play more senior events. I jumped online and got myself a late entry to the event which turned out to be a great idea!” Sims said.

“I hope to play more events as the year goes on. The course here is magnificent and I had a lot of fun.”

Runner-up to Sims was Kooringal’s Ian McCleary.
