Singh Brar off to a smart start

The warm weather and a hot putter is proving beneficial to the golf game of Jack Singh Brar in the NSW Amateur Championship at Riverside Oaks Golf Resort.

“The golf out here’s a lot better than home at the moment. The weather here is pretty pure,” laughs Singh Brar. “I prefer this type of weather. It's windy links type golf from where I’m from.”

The English representative posted a well crafted 5-under par 66 in benign conditions to be the pick of the international contingent on the first day of the Championship.

“It was a pretty solid round today, I gave myself the opportunity to make some birdies and the putter was hot which always helps,” he says.

Singh Brar’s round contained a few ups and downs with 6 birdies and 2 bogies. The key he felt was a clutch par save on the 5th hole.

“It was a little turn-around and I got the ball rolling form there.”
