Singh, De Jonge joins Masters field

Organisers today announced a stellar field of international and Australian golfers set to join world #2, Adam Scott and world #8, Matt Kuchar at this year s Talisker Masters from 14-17 November at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club. Commitments have been made by former world number one and three-time major champion, Vijay Singh of Fiji alongside Zimbabwean, Brendon de Jonge, a member of the International Team at The Presidents Cup 2013. The local challenge has been further strengthened by the participation of 2006 US Open Champion, Geoff Ogilvy, and fellow Victorian, Marc Leishman. Leishman was paired with Adam Scott in the final round of The Masters in April when Australia celebrated their first winner of the green jacket. Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty welcomed the announcement, I am delighted by the high calibre field and look forward to welcoming them to Royal Melbourne. I encourage all Victorians to come along to see some of the world s best golfers in action in Melbourne, Australia sports capital. Vice President, Director of Golf, IMG Australia, David Rollo, said, We are thrilled to have the opportunity to play the Talisker Masters on the world renowned composite course at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club for the first time and to welcoming such a strong field with so many different story lines , said Mr Rollo. Also vying for victory at the Talisker Masters will be four of the top ten players on the Asian Tour led by Australian, Scott Hend, a three time winner in 2013 and #2 on Asian Tour Order of Merit. He will be joined by the highest ranked Indian player and current #3 on the Asian Tour, Gaganjeet Bhullar along with fellow countryman Anirban Lahiri and Siddikur Rahman of Bangladesh. Lahiri and Rahman are respectively ranked 7th and 9th on the 2013 Asian Tour. An invitation has also been extended to talented young German, Maximillian Kieffer. Further strengthening the field are past Australian Masters champions, Peter Senior, Richard Green, Craig Parry and Peter Lonard along with current Australasian Tour #1, Jin Jeong from Korea who recently won the Perth International. The Talisker Masters will also mark a return to competitive play for Jarrod Lyle for the first time in 18 months. Lyle is sure to receive a warm welcome from his fellow players and golf fans across the country. In keeping with the history of the Australian Masters and extending opportunities for leading amateurs, highly talented 16 year old Victorian amateur Ryan Ruffels has been extended an invitation to play. All four days of the Talisker Masters will be broadcast live on Channel 7 from 12.30pm 5.30pm AEDT.
