Thursday 30 November

The final eight battled the early morning heat to determine who would progress through to the semi-finals in the afternoon.

Michael Sund (PGA) & Jesika Clark (Victoria) continued their form from yesterday with another dominate display, defeating Wayne Aigner (Sandhurst) & Val Mackintosh (Port Fairy) 6/4. They will face Greg Ebinger & and Erica Kreymborg (Spring Valley) who were just as impressive as they accounted for Chris Hanson (Broadford) & Kerry Peterson (Gisborne) 7/6.

The final two matches were a lot closer as Tim Sweeney & Lorinda Hartley (Peninsula-Kingswood) survived a tough battle with Ian Rennie (Victoria) & Joanne Irvine (The National) to win 1up on the last. The final match saw Jason Johnson (The National) & Stephanie Wearne (Victoria) salute 3/1 against the resilient Glenn Beckett (PGA) & Melinda Crawford (Berwick Montuna).

After a quick shower and bite to eat, the remaining eight players headed back on course to fight for the two positions in the final tomorrow. Sund and Clark had a dominant start winning the first two holes against Ebinger and Kreymborg before the match turned mid-way. The Spring Valley pair claimed four holes in a row from the 6th to lead two up entering the final nine. Ebinger and Kreymborg withstood a spirited fightback from Sund and Clark before closing the match 3/1.

It was a close contest in the second semi-final, with Sweeney and Hartley battling neck and neck against Johnson and Wearne. After birdieing the first, Sweeney and Hartley maintained their narrow lead until former Essendon midfielder Johnson and his Heathcote partner Wearne changed the momentum with a birdie on 7 and eagle on 8 to go one up. The match ebbed and flowed in the early stages of the back nine before Johnson and Wearne finished strongly with three consecutive pars to seal the match 2/1.

The final will take place at 8am tomorrow.
