Sir Dallas Brooks & Foursomes Champs tees off at Metro

The Sir Dallas Brooks Trophy and Victorian Men's & Women's Foursomes Championships kicked off this morning at the pristine Metropolitan Golf Club. 

Leading the charge in the Sir Dallas Brooks field is Ellen Pollock and Jonathon Cross from Commonwealth, assuming the top qualifying position after shooting an outstanding 69 net.

The pair also took out the Victorian Mixed Foursomes Championship and the best 18-hole gross with their score of 76 and will be tough to beat in the Sir Dallas Brooks match play over the coming days.

The second qualifying position went to last year’s Sir Dallas Brooks champions, Philip and Dallas Wickenden after their score of 74 net.

Skana Sutherland and Andrew Pitt finished on 72 net but were unable to play the match play.

Paul Bray and Gillian Ednie were the next best amateur gross score on 84, securing the runner-up position in the mixed foursomes championship.

Matthew McKenna (Kingston Heath) & Richard Allen (Royal Melbourne) were victorious in the Victorian Men’s Foursomes Championship with their score of 82 off the stick. 

The pair braved the blustery conditions to finish one ahead of Drouin pair, Matthew Long and Ryan Hammond on 83.

Long and Hammond also took out the Men’s Australasian Shield for the best club/district pair.

The sister pairing of Stephanie and Chelsea Wearne were victorious in the Victorian Women’s Foursomes Championship after their score of 88.

The win topped off a special week for the family after Stephanie won the Victorian Women’s Family Championship with her mother Tristen on Sunday at Barwon Heads.

In the nett sections, Tim Witherow and Marco Dogliotti were the best in the men’s section with a net 79 while Andrea Donaldson and Judith Fitzgerald were the best in the women’s field with net 81.5.
