Marianne Skarpnord took out the South African Women&aposs Open title after adverse weather reduced the tournament from 54 to 18 holes on Sunday. Skarpnord, who topped the leaderboard with an opening-round three-under 69 on Friday, was declared the winner after strong winds and rain wreaked havoc at the Southbroom Golf Club in KwaZulu-Natal. The Norwegian had a one-stroke advantage over of group of seven players, including local hopes Stacy Lee Bregman and Ashleigh Simon. England&aposs Charley Hull, Swede Camilla Lennarth, American Katie Burnett, Finland&aposs Minea Blomqvist and Germany&aposs Nina Holleder were also tied for second. Persistent rain caused the second round to be delayed on Saturday, prompting the tournament to be cut to 68 players and 36 holes. The second and final round was then delayed on Sunday for nearly three hours due to thunderstorms, followed by an additional delay because of a waterlogged course. Play was suspended again shortly after 3pm local time due to strong winds, with officials making the decision to reduce the event to 18 holes as the course became unplayable.
