Smail snares a share of third

Kiwi David Smail has finished in a tie for third place at the Nagashima Shigeo Invitational Sega Sammy Cup in Hokkaido. Smail shot a final round three-under par to finish at nine-under for the tournament along with Ryo Ishikawa, Taigen Tsumagari and Akio Sadakata, four strokes off winner Jeev Milkha Singh. The 36-year-old Indonesian shot a superb six-under 66 in his final round to finish two shots clear of Sushi Ishigaki, who could only manage an even par 72 in his final round at the North Country Gold Club course. Craig Jones was the best placed Australian, finishing in a tie for 14th place at five-under for the tournament. Paul Sheehan shot up the leaderboard courtesy of his final round 69 to finish in a tie for 20th, while Chris Campbell finished a further stroke back. Steve Conran had a tournament he&aposd rather forget after a disastrous third round 84 left him battling it out for last place. However, he narrowly avoided that fate thanks to Hideki Kase&aposs poor final round.
