Thunderbird International Website Queenslanders Cameron Smith and Christina Mew will make their first starts in Friday&aposs Thunderbird International at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Smith and Mew were selected to compete in the championship following their performances in Australian ranking events earlier in the year. Smith is the current Queensland Stroke Play champion and won the Queensland Boys&apos Amateur Championship in both 2009 and 2010. Mew, the runner up at the 2009 Aaron Baddeley World Junior Australian final, has also represented Australia at the Trans-Tasman Cup. Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, last year&aposs Thunderbird International Junior featured 78 players from 13 states and 14 foreign countries. It is a 54 hole stroke play event and held from 28-31 May. The field consisted of 48 boys and 30 girls, ages 12-18, and included 44 Rolex Junior All-Americans. Several past participants of the Thunderbird International Junior have gone on to be PGA Tour winners including Americans Ryan Moore, Anthony Kim and Hunter Mahan.
