New Zealander, Baily Smith (Mount Maunganui GC) & Kirsty Hodgkins (Redcliffe – Qld) have been crowned 2014 SA Junior Amateur Champions.
Due to event scheduling, this years’ event was conducted over 54 holes rather than 72 holes, with the first 36 holes held at Kooyonga on day one and final 18 holes on day two at North Adelaide.
The boys leader after the first day was Blake Proverbs (QLD) with rounds of 74,73 (3-over). With the low round at Kooyonga, Proverbs claimed the Kooyonga Summer Cup.
Heading into day two, Proverbs held a 1 stroke lead over Kooyonga’s Jordan Bishop at +4, while Bailey Smith was 2 strokes further back at 6-over.
In the final round at the North Adelaide Golf Course, Smith fired a superb 3 under round of 68 to finish with a 54 hole total of 218, two strokes ahead of Proverbs who closed with a 73. Jordan Bishop from Kooyonga, finished third on 222 with rounds of 72, 76, 74.
In the Girl's Championship, Kirsty Hodgkins (Redcliffe – Qld) performed consistently over the tournament to finish 14-over par with rounds of 77, 82, 76 (235) to claim the title by three strokes ahead of last years’ winner Rebecca Kay (QLD) 77, 78, 83 (238).
Finishing third on 242 (81, 80, 81) was Claudia Pisano (Mt Lawley).
In the Girl's B Grade Cup (Stableford), Caitlin Woods (Barossa Valley) 85 points claimed victory with scores of 25, 31, 29 points.
