Smith steady at the top

ROUND 3 RESULTS Queensland s Cameron Smith continues to lead the Srixon Australian Men’sStroke Play Championship following a third round 2-under par 70 at Victoria Golf Club. Smith, who has led after each round, sits at 9-under par, three strokes clear of New Zealand s Ben Campbell and England s David Coupland at 6-under par. Coupland was one of three players including South Australia s Tom Bond and Chinese Taipei s Tao Huang who fired the best round of the day with a 5-under par 67. Huang and Queensland s Tim Hart share fourth place at 4-under par for the championship and five strokes behind Smith. Luke Humphries (NSW) who fired a 4-under par 68 in Round 2, is in sixth place at 3-under par following his even-par 72. Mitch Davis, also from NSW, is in seventh place following his 1-under par 71. Commonwealth Golf Club member Geoff Drakeford is in eighth place 1-under par. Four players are tied in ninth place at even par including Queensland s Marika Batibasaga, New Zealand s Ryan Fox, Singapore s Zhiqun Lam and WA s Brody Ninyette. The top 32 players following Sunday s final round advance to the Match Play section of the Srixon Australian Amateur Championship at Victoria Golf Club which begins on Monday. Entry to all championships is free.
