Smits and Mew lead in Queensland

story: courtesy Golf QLD Nicholas Smits and Christina Mew lead the Queensland Boys & Girls Amateur Championship respectively after the completion of the second round at the Indooroopilly Golf Club. Nicholas Smits (Colonial) holds a one shot lead firing a four under par round of 68 to be 137 (-7) after the second day of the Boys Championship. Smits round was constant all day on the Indooroopilly East layout which included five birdies and a single bogey. Smits leads Taylor Macdonald (Redcliffe) and Wantima Golf Club member Cameron Smith after they also returned rounds of 68 (-4) to be 138 (-6) after the second round. Christina Mew (Royal Queensland) leads the Girls Championship with a second round even par 74 to secure a three shot lead over Southport&aposs Michelle Pericic and Jessica Park (Brisbane) who are both tied on 152 (+4) for the championship. Michelle Pericic returned the lowest round for the Girls Championship today, a three under par 71, an entire ten strokes lower than her opening. Players will tee off tomorrow from 7:00am for the third round (seeded) on what is traditionally known as moving day, with the leading 60 players plus ties (boys) and 30 players plus ties (girls) making the cut for the final round on Thursday.
