Travis Smyth is in a three-way tie for second place after two rounds of the Porter Cup at Niagara Falls Country Club in Buffalo, New York.
Despite a three-hour weather delay, Smyth carded a one under par 69 in a round that included three birdies and two bogeys.
“After the three and a bit hour weather delay, the course was soaked. My short game saved me today; I only hit 12 greens,” Smyth said.
First-round leader Harrison Endycott couldn’t get started today and battled his way to a one-over par 71.
“It just wasn't my day. I had some bad breaks and hit some great putts that simply lipped out,” Endycott said.” But it’s not far away, and I can feel a really low round coming in the next couple of days.”
Newcastle’s Blake Windred remains in 21st position after a second-round 72 which leaves him at three over par for the tournament, while James Grierson bounced back from his horror first round by carding a 74.
The third round will be played tonight AEST.
