The inaugural Country District Pennants played at the Barmera Golf Golf in the Riverland over the weekend 18&19 October has been won by the Southern District.
Played in a competitive manner but in the right spirit, all 8 Districts fielded full teams of 5 men & 3 women in each of the 3 rounds played.
In the Men’s A Division – Yorke Peninsula took the honours with Riverland taking out the B Division remaining undefeated.
In the Women’s A Division – South East finished top of the table, while Southern won the B Division winning all 3 matches.
Southern claimed overall honours winning 5 from 6 matches to finish on 5 points (14.5 games) with Riverland runner up with 4 wins (15.5 games), half a game ahead of South East.
‘Barmera Golf Club's President Neville McPherson and his members were extremely welcoming and the course was presented in terrific condition considering the club operates with only one greenkeeper’ said Golf SA Country District Chair David Manning.
‘All players had a good time renewing and making new friendships whilst still playing in a competitive manner. Barmera Golf Club members should be very proud of their Club and facilities’ David added.
