Spencer clinches title by one

Lynton Spencer from Rossdale Golf Club has won the Men’s Heathcote Senior Amateur today with a fine score of 76 on the Par 71 layout. With the sun shining and a moderate breeze blowing, Spencer found the going easy with a 37, 1 over par front nine. Spencer in his post-game speech mentioned that this is his first win in a Golf Victoria event.  

In the women’s section Margaret Bland from Alexandra Golf Club took the honour with 35 stableford points off a handicap off 22. Bland outplayed the field with 3 pointers on holes 9, 10, and 16. Margaret also had a 4 pointer on hole 14.

The Heathcote Golf Club was presented in wonderful condition with the greens rolling true. Michael Clayton, who had a look at the course on Friday, revealed only praise for the courses greens.  Golf Victoria would like to congratulate all winners for the day, and would also like to extend sincere thanks to the Heathcote staff and volunteers involved in making the tournament a success.   

A busy week is planned ahead for the seniors with the Shepparton and Tocumwal Senior Amateur’s starting tomorrow and Thursday respectively. Many of today’s players will be featuring in these events.
