Spring Country title for Jess

Jessica Pickwick (Kilmore) has won her third Golf Victoria title this year, claiming the 2015 Spring Country Tournament today. Jess fired rounds of 69 & 80 at Wangaratta & Jubilee Golf Clubs respectively to win by 7 shots.

After taking a commanding lead following her first round and playing in the lead group today, Jess found putting to be a challenge on the sloping greens, but managed to hold the runner up in Heather Harley (Kooringal) at bay.

Heather had the leading A grade gross score for the day but it wasn’t enough to run away with the title. With a very big difference between the two courses topographically, many players found the undulating greens at Jubilee and some tight fairways at Wangaratta to be challenging.

Local lady Ros White from Jubilee was very excited to win the Vi Teesdale (Nett) Trophy with her two rounds of 71 & 67 nett for a 140 total. Ros won by a very slim two shot margin from a two way countback on 142 which featured Marianne Stoettrup (Gisborne) and Maureen Bond (Terang). The fantastic nett scores from these ladies put them well ahead of the rest of the field.

36 hole gross grade winners were as follows: Roslyn White (Jubilee B Grade) and Jill Tyrrell (Phillip Island C Grade). The 36 hole nett grade winners were as follows: Marianne Stoettrup (Gisborne A Grade) and Mary Taylor (Phillip Island C Grade).

Traralgon & Morwell will host the Victorian Country Tournament in October 2016.
