SSV TEAM VIC in the hunt at the Australian Championships

TEAM VIC have made a promising start to this year’s School Sport Australia Golf Championships in Toowoomba, QLD. While most of the players mentioned they were a little disappointed after the opening 36 holes stroke play, the preparation has proven to be holding the players in good stead for the match play rounds. Kono Matsumoto and David Micheluzzi were the leading TEAM VIC players after the 36 holes stroke play finishing in 4th and 9th positions respectively.

The match play rounds kicked off Tuesday with both the girls and boys teams winning their morning and afternoon matches. The boy’s faced the two inform teams on the opening day of the match play rounds in NSW and WA. With all players finding some form and clinching a few close matches they were able to defeat NSW 3.5 to 2.5, then also emerging victorious against WA 4.5 to 1.5 in the afternoon. The girl’s team also produced some fine golf on Tuesday defeating both the SA and ACT teams 5 matches to 1. After a well-deserved rest day on Wednesday play continues today at Toowoomba City Golf Club.
