St Andrews bares its teeth

We walked out of our cottage this morning to extremely high 45 miles per hour winds and low temperatures at St Andrews.

We couldn’t find enough clothes to keep ourselves warm.

The day didn’t turn out as we had planned with play being suspended at 1:30pm due to the high winds.  Golf balls wouldn’t stop on the greens and in some cases were moving on the fairways.

This meant only the top forty and ties would be playing the final two rounds of the St Andrews Links Trophy.  Out of the thirteen Australians who competed this week, only five would survive (Murdaca, Day, Eccles, Murray & Herbert).  Two of our players missed the cut by just one stroke, another missed by two.

It’s certainly a tough pill to swallow, but at the end of the day this is part of the game and playing true Links golf.
