St. Michael�s march on in Metro Pennant

Upsets aplenty as The Metropolitan Major Pennant reaches its final weeks.

Bankstown has pulled off the result of the round with a solid four matches to 3 win over the highly fancied Australian Golf Club in a thriller at Bankstown Golf Club, while Pymble also blew their pool wide open with five matches to 2 win at home over Concord.

As the Metropolitan Major Pennant reaches its climax, it is St Michael’s Golf Club who are now the only undefeated team left in Division One with just one round of the home-and-away series remaining.

St Michael’s had little trouble in their win over Macquarie Links in Pool one taking the match 5/2. Jake Baker was the pick of the winners for the Maroubra side with a 6&5 win which also locked away the team's semi-final spot.

Mona Vale grabbed a 4/3 away win over Bonnie Doon in a result that has consigned the 2016 Division One Major Pennant Champions to the relegation playoffs. Angus Redford led the way for Mona Vale with a 4&3 win, while the experience of Australian Senior Golf legend Stefan Albinski helped with a 3&2 win.

Pymble's talented team of youngsters did all that was asked of it in a fantastic 5/2 win over rivals Concord. Reid Brown was the pick of the winners for Pymble, with a 5&4 victory. He was supported by James Conran, Corey Jones and Joe Trinder. The winner of the pool will now come down to next week's match at Concord between the two sides.

Pennant Hills took the winning point in their match away from home against Liverpool, with the lower order of their team doing the job to ensure the result. Adam Cordnony was the best for Pennant Hills, with a 2&1 win.

Bankstown grabbed a stirring 4/3 win against a strong Australian Golf Club in Pool Three. it was wins by Jack Carmichael over Lachlan Robinson 4&3, Riley Cody over James Brownlow, 2 up, and Alex Laurie over Zachary Mullins 3&2 that proved pivotal for the inner west team.

Castle Hill and Ryde-Parramatta played out a 3 1/2 all draw at Castle Hill, with the day's biggest win coming from Ryde-Parramatta's John Smoljko, 6&5.

Moore Park is in a strong position to secure pool four after a 7/nil whitewash over Avondale. Hayden Gulliver was the best for the city side, with a 7&5 win. Long Reef accounted for NSW 5/2 with Connor Duff leading the way for the Northern team. He was ably supported by Matthew Saad, Tom Bateman, Mark Cruise and Clayton Small.

Division Two

Twin Creeks and Stonecutters Ridge are separated by one game at the top of Pool one in Division Two Pennant.

Stonecutters overcame Royal Sydney 5/2 out at Colebee, with wins from Paul Mc Guffie, Mark Hancock, Allan Ison and Matthew Taylor, all by the same margin, 3&2.

Twin Creeks defeated North Ryde 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 at home, with John Glasheen leading the way with a 3&1 win. Both Stonecutters and Twin Creeks will be hoping for a big result in next week's final round-robin game to secure the group win.

Fox Hills defeated Muirfield 4/3 with Peter Bradley the big winner on the day, grabbing a 7&6 result.

Bayview remains on top of pool three after their 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 win over Monash, while Killara shored up second place after they hammered Lynwood 7/nil at home. Simon Cooper and Anthony Cutler where Killara's big winners, with 6&5 results, while Bayview's Dale Tapper had a 6&5 win in their win over Monash.

Cronulla and the Lakes will clash next week to decide the winner of Pool Four after the Lakes held on for a 4/3 win against them at home. Despite missing number one Josh Armstrong, the Lakes maintained their nerve to grab the point, with Evan Kargas the standout with a 5&4 win.

Oatlands were too good for Antill Park in the other pool game, winning 5 1/2 to 1 1/2. Best for Oatlands was Nicholas Murdoch, and Tim Frazer who recorded 5&3 and 5&4 wins each.

Division Three

Manly defeated Carnarvon 5/2, with Dylan Martin winning 6&5, while Kogarah defeated New Brighton away from home, 4/3. Kogarah's best was Steve Puskaric with an 8&6 win.

Cumberland leapfrogged Wallacia after a 6/1 result at home against Wakehurst, while Wallacia managed a 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 win over Neighbours Lakeside. The teams, separated by just 1 1/2 wins, face tricky away games next week.

Penrith held on to the top spot in pool three despite losing to Massey Park 4/3, while Richmond grabbed an encouraging 5/2 win at home against Camden. With only half a point separating three teams, next weeks results will be crucial to deciding who progresses to the semi-finals.

Dunheved has locked up pool four after a 5/2 win at home against Glenmore Heritage. Dillyn Burazin was the best for Dunheved, with a 6&5 win. Eastlake and Woolooware played out a 3 1/2 all draw at Eastlake. The half point just enough to keep The Eastlake team away from the relegation playoff position in the group for now.

Division Four

Palm Beach have cemented their spot in the Semi-finals after a 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 win over Leonay. Best for the Peninsula side was Jackson Upton with a 5&4 win. Palm Beach are a perfect five from 5 this year and look like the team to beat. Roseville jumped into second place on for and against after a 4/3 away win over Riverside Oaks.

Northbridge and Campbelltown will battle it out for pool two in next week’s final round robin match after the North Shore club grabbed a 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 win at home over their rivals. Kyle Underwood was the Best for Northbridge, recording a big 5&4 win. The equation for Campbelltown next Sunday is simple; a 5/2 win will secure the pool win and a semi-final spot.

In the other pool game, Beverley Park defeated Rosnay 4 /12 to 2 1/2. The Park’s Luke Carey led the way with a 6&5 win.

Bardwell Valley and Asquith will battle it out in pool three on Sunday after the Valley grabbed a win at home against their rivals 4 1/2 to 2 1/2. Nicholas Katholas was once again impressive for the Valley with an 8&6 win. Next week's match is a must -win for Bardwell Valley. However, Asquith will start firm favourites with the home course advantage.

Marrickville consigned Cammeray to the relegation match after scoring an away win. David Fletcher and Harrison Salmon were Marrickville’s best with 3&1 wins.

Warringah remains on top of pool four despite losing 5/2 to Bexley. Jeffrey Guan was Bexley’s best on the day with a 5&4 win. Windsor is making a late charge after a 7/NIL win at home against the Coast. James Singleton Chad Nelson and Nathan Duggan were Windsor’s best with big wins.

Division Five

Bardwell Park continues to lead Division five by half a point following a 4/3 win away from home against Hurstville. Other winners include Chatswood, Georges River, and Randwick, while Bondi and Macarthur Grange played out a 3 1/2 all draw.
