The 2018 Celebrity Chef Dinner for Challenge is edging closer and now is the time to secure your table at the biggest night of Oates Vic Open week.
Following the conclusion of the second round on Friday, February 2nd, the 2018 Celebrity Chef Dinner for Challenge will be held in the Presidents Room at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong for the first time.
To go with the spectacular view of the Geelong Cats’ home ground under lights, guests will enjoy a one-of-a-kind menu prepared by four of Australia’s top chefs.
Ian Curley, who was instrumental in the inaugural dinner at Barwon Heads Golf Club in 2015, will join forces with Scott Pickett, Todd Moses and Alex Xinis to deliver a memorable dining experience.
“It’s full on this year. We’ve got some great suppliers who will be supplying the best Victorian produce you can get and you’ve got some of the best chefs in the country there on the night so it’s going to be really good,” said Curley.
A flair for fine food isn’t all the chefs have in common with all four keen golfers and keen to put back into the community.
“They’re all good golfers, don’t know how good of chefs they are!” Curley joked.
“Nah, they’re good guys, we get to see each other regularly and it’s good to be able to do this sort of thing, to give something back.”
With drinks supplied and a spirit tasting with global spirit ambassador Brendon Rogers, patrons at the 2018 Celebrity Chef Dinner for Challenge will be able to enjoy a night filled with delicious cuisine, interviews with players, entertainment and live music while raising much needed funds for children and families battling with cancer.
Challenge CEO David Rogers says the change of venue for 2018 has organisers gearing up for the biggest Challenge Charity Dinner yet.
“We’re excited that we will be hosting the dinner at the GMHBA Stadium allowing us to have more guests in attendance and giving them an insight into the world of international golf,” said Rogers.
Four-time PGA Tour winner Robert Allenby recently hosted his 26th Gala Dinner in support of Challenge and his good friend Jarrod Lyle, who is currently undergoing his third battle against cancer.
“Golf is a very important element of Challenge as our International Patron, Robert Allenby, has supported the organisation for over 25 years” said Rogers.
“Challenge Ambassador, Jarrod Lyle, knows all about Challenge as he was first introduced to us as a young man, early in his cancer journey.
“Jarrod is currently dealing with a third bout of cancer and it brings home why the relationship between our two organisations is so important – so we can support young children like we did with Jarrod.”
After nominating Challenge as the official charity partner of the Oates Vic Open in 2014, Golf Victoria CEO Simon Brookhouse is looking forward to another special evening that can raise much needed funds.
“Challenge has such a special place in the Victorian golfing community’s heart.
“Through the Charity Dinner on Friday 2 February, we can make a difference to not only the kids suffering from cancer but their families too," said Brookhouse.
