Henrik Stenson has clinched the FedEx Cup with a three-shot win at the season-ending Tour Championship on Sunday, while Australian pair Jason Day and Adam Scott finished in a tie for 14th. The Swede closed with a two-under 68 to finish the tournament at 13 under, three shots clear of Americans Jordan Spieth and Steve Stricker at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. He collects the US$10million bonus for topping the FedEx Cup standings and also earned $1.44m for winning the event. Spieth holed four straight birdies to briefly close within one, but a bogey on the 17th cost him any chance of victory. Stenson had opened up a nine-stroke lead on Saturday but gave his rivals hope when four bogeys reduced his advantage to four heading into the final round. But his final-round 68 proved to be enough as he carded three birdies and a bogey to hold on, completing a consistent season, which included winning the Deutsche Bank Championship. Stenson became the first European winner of the TOUR Championship since it began in 1987. Tiger Woods held the FedEx Cup lead heading into the fourth and final play-off event but tied for 22nd to slip to second behind Stenson. American Webb Simpson stormed home with a seven-under 63 to finish fourth at nine under, a shot ahead of countryman Dustin Johnson (69). Englishman Justin Rose (67) was sixth, ahead of Billy Horschel (68) and Zach Johnson (68). American duo Jim Furyk and Nick Watney finished alongside Day and Scott at three under for the tournament. Day birdied four of his final nine holes to card a round of 67, while compatriot Scott produced a 69 to finish 10 shots off the pace. Stricker climbed to third in the FedEx Cup thanks to his strong showing, while Scott ended up fourth in the standings. Last year&aposs FedEx Cup winner Brandt Snedeker finished 12th in the Cup standings after battling a bone disease in 2013.
