Newly crowned Srixon Australian Amateur champion Matt Stieger and fellow National Squad member Breanna Elliott have been elevated to Tier 1 Status within the Golf Australia National Squad. Stieger qualified for elevation as the Australian Amateur champion and because he is now ranked in the top two players in the country. He is also ranked inside the Top 30 (#20) in the Scratch Players World Rankings (another selection criterion). Elliott qualified for Tier 1 by being ranked in the Top 50 on the World Amateur Rankings and in the top two in Australia. Elliott won the Lake Macquarie Amateur earlier this year and won the Queensland Stroke Play in 2010 while Stieger has won both the Tasmanian Open and Srixon Australian Amateur championship in 2011.
