Australian Matthew Stieger has won the NSW PGA Championship by three strokes at the Mt Broughton Golf and Country Club on Sunday.

Stieger, who recently joined the professional circuit, carded a four-under par 68 in the final round to claim the PGA Tour of Australasia event.

The 21-year-old, who placed 52nd in last month's Australian Masters, posted a bogey-free round as he finished three shots clear of countryman Daniel Nisbet at 15 under.

Nisbet bogeyed his opening hole on day four but remained focused to close out the tournament with a three-under 69 and 12-under overall.

Nick Cullen, winner of the Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open on the OneAsia Tour, holed seven birdies in the Southern Highlands on his way to a five-under 67.

Cullen concluded the championship at 11 under, one shot ahead of New Zealand's Ryan Fox (70) and Australian Kyle Grant (68), who finished in a share of fourth position.

Swede Thomas Petersson (71) and Australian pair Callan O'Reilly (75) and Daniel Popovic (71) were in a share of sixth position at nine under.

Chris Gaunt (65), Craig Hancock (69) and Anthony Summers (70) were seven shots adrift of Stieger, while 2011 Indonesian PGA Championship runner-up Matthew Griffin finished tied for 12th at seven under.

Meanwhile, 2008 NSW PGA Championship winner Tim Wood headlined a group of five players who ended the tournament in a share of 18th spot.

Wood experienced a mixed day on the greens, recording one bogey, one double bogey and three birdies as he produced an even-par 72 round.

Australians Jake Higginbottom (73), Alex Katholos (69), Gavin Fairfax (69) and New Zealander Nick Gillespie (71) joined Wood at five under.
