Darron Stiles has won the News Sentinel Open at 18 under par after scoring four under in the final round at Knoxville, Tennessee. Stiles parred the last hole for a one-stroke victory, despite impressive final rounds from Scott Gardiner, D.J Brigman and Nicholas Thompson. The trio all finished at 17-under tying them for second place – with Gardiner&aposs course-record nine-under on the final day leading the fight back against the eventual winner. He was tied for 22nd place after the completion of the third round. After bogeying the first hole Stiles made no other mistakes for the round and recorded a back-nine eagle and birdie to take him into first place. “This is the springboard for the rest of the year. Now that I got a win, I can get another one,” Stiles said. “It will free me up for the rest of the year. I can be more aggressive. I can get up to Pittsburgh and just go for it. Why not win two in a row?” Brigman praised his wedge game for his runner-up finish. “I have been working on my wedge game on the wedge range at the University of New Mexico, I told myself trust all the hard work you ve been doing and you will be fine,” Brigman said. America&aposs Erik Flores shot three under in the last to finish in third place at 16 under. Brice Garnett was another to have a strong final round performance, scoring seven under to finish at 15 under for the tournament. He hit 10 birdies in the final round, but three consecutive bogeys from the 14th hurt his final score. Garnett tied for fourth with Jeff Glove, Scott Dunlap and two-time major winner John Daly. Casey Wittenberg, Adam Hadwin and Matt Weibring all finished at 14 under. Americans Kevin Kisner and Cliff Kresge also had good final rounds. Kisner hit seven under and Kresge six under to finish 12 under over the four rounds.
