Stojanovski wins Tasco NSW Junior Boys Championship

27 September 2011

The final day of the 2011 Tasco NSW Junior Boys Championship was contested over 36-holes today in perfect conditions at Charlestown Golf Club.

In the morning round Zac Stolz (Pymble GC) nailed a hole-in-one on the par three 16th – his first ever. Stolz went on to finish the round with a great score of 70, two-under par.

The leading score for the round came from Grant Booth (Ashlar GC) who shot a 69. Local Brayden Peterson and Harrison Endycott (Avondale GC) both shot 71.

In the leading group Peter Stojanovski (Cabramatta GC) and Ricky Kato (Bonnie Doon GC) both shot even par, while Ben Stowe from Royal Adelaide had a 75.

Heading into the final 18 holes in the afternoon Kato had the advantage of a 3 shot lead over Stojanovski and the rest of the field. In what would prove to be an exciting climax to the championship Stojanovski excelled down the stretch, with the aid of his putter, to card an impressive final round of 70. With Kato unable to reproduce his efforts of the earlier rounds to post a final round of 76, it would be Stojanovski victorious by three shots highlighting a remarkable turnaround over the final 18 holes.

Stojanovski ended the 72-hole Champioship with a total score of 288, three ahead of Kato on 291. This ensured him the title of 2011 NSW Junior BoysChampion. 15-year-old Grant Booth came in third place overall with 292.
