Storm halts play until 4.50pm

Play at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open has been suspended because of storms in the area at Royal Melbourne. The lightning delay is expected to delay play until approximately 4.50AEST. Officials hopeful of 5pm resumption after player warm-up and transport.

The horn rang out at 3.34pm and players scurried from the course, despite there being no rain.

The final group of Lydia Ko and Ariya Jutanugarn were playing the par-four ninth hole at the time.

Ko, the world No. 1, has a share of the lead at seven-under par with South Korea's Amy Yang, who is playing the 10th hole, one group ahead.

Yang hit a brilliant fairway wood to eagle range at the 10th but had to mark her ball and wait because of the threat of lightning.

Jutanugarn has dropped three shots today to be four-under par.

An Australian win seems highly unlikely, with Katherine Hull the closest local player at one-under through 10 holes.
