Stubbs and Bannan win the Murray River Junior Masters

The third and final round to this year’s Murray River Junior Masters finished this morning at Cobram-Barooga Golf Club on the renowned Old Course. The Old Course is a traditional work of art where the magnificent couch fairways are framed by towering redgum and pine trees with fast and true greens.

All eyes were on the overnight leaders as the tournament looked to crown the 2017 champions. With several players in the mix the event was destine for an exciting finish. In the end it was Jasper Stubbs and Kay Bannan taking home this Murray River Junior Masters titles in emphatic fashion.

Stubbs closed with an impressive level par 72 to hold the trophy aloft at a stellar fiver under-par tally, capturing victory in the boys section by two shots over Commonwealth’s Mitch Crabbe. Bannan reeled in the overnight frontrunner in Steffi Vogel to finish one shot better at a 54-hole tally of one under-par. Bannan started strong with birdies at 1, 3 and 5 to turn three under. A few bogeys on the back nine saw her sign for a lever par round and capture victory.

The overall nett prize was awarded to Albury’s Samuel Baker after rounds of 64, 67 and 72 to beat his handicap by an impressive 13 shots!
