The magnificent Sorrento Golf Course was the venue for the annual match-up between the Golf Victoria Senior Team and the Australian Defence Forces Golf Association.
Day 1 – 4BBB (Thursday 23/3)
Wind conditions were challenging with a cross wind being the order of the day on most holes. There were some strong individual and team performances with the receptive greens conducive to some excellent scoring.
The teams of Josh Evers and Darryl Whitehead and Andrei Ezergaillis and Derrin Morgan were outstanding for the ADF whilst team debutantes, Mark Brasher and Steve Valentine, and Rob Wallace and Ken O’Brien led the way for the GV Seniors.
Although in a team format it, could be easily argued that Ken O’Brien was the outstanding individual player of the day with it estimated that, individually, he was one or two under for his fifteen holes played.
Two matches went to the 18th hole and in both instances the GV teams were 1 down after 17. However, demonstrating a strong fighting spirit, both teams won their last hole. Frank Palinkas and Mark Abeyaratne holing out, for their respective teams, to pick up meritorious halves.
The result, for the day, was that each team had 3 points with two wins and two halves each.

Day 2 – Singles Matches (Friday 24/3)
Coming into the final day and all square, the singles matches were highly anticipated with a lot of friendly banter between the players from both sides prior to first tee time.
Unfortunately, Mark Brasher was unable to take his place in the GV team for day 2, he was replaced, in the singles, by Jaimie Pitt. Thanks to Jaimie for his contribution and fine win.
Both weather and course conditions were excellent and at the end of the day it was the Golf Victoria team who were victorious for the second time in three years with a narrow 10 matches to 8 win.
There were three undefeated, two day, players for GV Seniors; Rob Wallace and Steve Valentine (with two wins each) and John Kelly with a half and a win. For the ADF; Andrei Ezergailis, Derrin Morgan and Josh Evers each recorded two wins whilst Darryl Whitehead with a win and a half and team captain Tony Greenwood with two halves were also undefeated.
Guy Krall got a meritorious half against ADF captain Tony Greenwood after being 4 down with 5 to play. The second year in a row that these two went head to head with the same result.
Paul Lulofs Medal: The Paul Lulofs Medal is awarded to the player adjudged the most outstanding over the two days of competition and the award this year goes to Rob Wallace with a 4 and 3 win in both his fourball and singles events.
